Our Country’s Armed Forces and PTSD

Posted by Admin

ACVOW is a non-profit service which recruits combat veteran volunteers to mentor, coach and enable our warriors in the conversion from combat, permitting them and their loved ones to lead useful and fulfilling lives. As many our warriors return from combat, they are often met with fresh mental health problems in the form of combat stress. Without addressing their combat stress, veterans our warriors find it hard to adjust to a peaceful world, which affects their education and work. When treating PTSD , compared to many mental health care professionals, ACVOW likes to leave out the the letter D, which means “disorder”. The volunteers of ACVOW believe combat stress is not a disorder, but a typical reaction to an exceptionally abnormal experience.ACVOW was initially established in early 2001 to assist Vietnam veterans who were still enduring post traumatic stress, or combat stress. Its unique element is its combat veteran volunteers who’ve the extraordinary understanding of knowing what our warriors have experienced. Now, quite a few ACVOW volunteers are making an effort to mentor and assist warriors from Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.
